We recently picked up PV2 Daniel F, a third-generation AaSP Adoptee! His father-n-law, 1SG Mark C, worked for another adoptee of ours MAJ (now LTC) John M at Camp Speicher in Iraq. We took care of Daniel's f-in-law and now we will take care of him.

My unit/ section is Headquarters Headquarters Troop 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division ADAM (Air Defense Air Management)/BAE (Brigade Aviation Element) Deployed in support of OND (Operation New Dawn).
The BAE is an organic cell in every Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT), Heavy BCT (HBCT), BCT Light and Stryker BCT (SBCT), and provides 24-hour operational capability to plan and synchronize aviation operations and Army Airspace Command and Control (A2C2) throughout the BCT’s Area of Operation (AOR). The BAE uses TAIS (Tactical Aviation Integration System), AMPS (Aviation Mission Planning System), and Radios to provide Command and Control of the army aviation assets within the AORs airspace.
The ADAM portion covers the whole air defense scheme and ties into the aviation cell. The air defense soldiers have many systems which include FAAD (Forward Aerial Air Defense), AMDWS (Air (Missile Defense Work Station), and ADSI (Air Defense System Integrator).
Together the ADAM/BAE provides a safe operating environment for all aircraft with the BCTs airspace by providing the aviators with timely and accurate cautions and advisories, while controlling all of the Restricted Operating Zones (ROZs) for the safe and accurate deconfliction of fires.
In Short the ADAM/BAE owns the airspace above the battle space in which the infantry units control. In addition we act as a Liaison (LNO) between the aviation and the infantry units to insure all units are on the same sheet of music.
Currently we have two operation cells in Iraq. Both cells are fully functional on minimum manning, which can be hard on a Soldier working long hours. We make best with what we have and try our best to keep each other entertained.
