At the end of 2007, we picked up the Balad Theater Hospital at Camp Anaconda, one of the large trauma centers in Iraq working incredible medical miracles for our troops. The hospital is under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force. We sent Christmas stockings to our adoptee and DHL Express sent them live Christmas trees. In January, we sent XBox 360s and games. Additionally, we've sent personal care products, food and snacks and even cigars.
This past holiday season we sent portable DVD players for the staff and patients. Thanks to our local PC Richard store in Paramus, NJ, we were able to buy them at cost (thanks Charlie!). They are already in use providing enjoyment to those who need them most. And in April 2009, DHL Express once again sent Girl Scout cookies from the Nassau County, NY, Girl Scouts to several of our units, including the Balad AF Theater Hospital (thanks Cathy and team!). See below for some pictures of the cookies and smiling faces!
In June 2008, DHL Express and the Nassau County, NY, Girl Scouts teamed up and send pallets of Girl Scout cookies to several of our hospitals in the Middle East. Balad was one of them.
We're proud to support these wonderful and brave men and women who take care of our troops at the hospital.
A special thanks to all our medical and security forces at the Balad Theater Hospital.

| The "Cigar Kings" of Balad AF Theater Hospital reduce the stress of a war zone hospital by enjoying an occasional cigar on the rooftop. |

 |
| The Balad "Cigar Kings" blow off steam by smoking cigars on the roof of the Balad AF Theater Hospital. It's a good way to relax and get away from the stress in the hospital below. The Cigar Kings have several rules, one of which is no talk of work. It's a sanctuary amidst the stress of one of the busiest trauma centers in Iraq. AaSP is honored to support the Cigar Kings. |
