76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Joint Base Balad, Iraq
Our adoptees: COL. Courtney C. COL. Kenneth N. MAJ. Shelane R. CPT. Lisa K. SGT. Rob C.
The 76th IBCT now secures Joint Base Balad (formerly known as LSA Anaconda). The 76th took command shortly after AaSP's I-ROQ Band Tournament. The 76th IBCT are currently deployed throughout Iraq providing everything from convoy security and route clearance to installation management for military posts throughout the theater of operations.
Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon has been supporting Garrison Commanders on Balad for three years. Support has included sending NFL souvenirs for three Super Bowl parties, supplies for the softball league, blank DVDs for the base's "Day in the Life of a Soldier" program with camcorders, the I-Roq Band Tournament, XBoxes and games for the base MWR libraries. AaSP acknowledges the tremendous support by Microsoft, MTV Games, Activision, Unilever Ambassadors, Pepsi Lipton Partnership, Fujifilm, Atlas Air Worldwide and all our supporters for enabling us to provide support to America's largest base in Iraq in order to improve the quality of life for our troops.
These recent comments come from Garrison Commander COL. Carr:
I would like to take this opportunity to express heartfelt thanks for all of us with the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team! Your support has greatly augmented our Soldier's quality of life through providing everything from drink mix to video games.
Having said that, I have to say that many Soldiers at Joint Base Balad have taken advantage of playing some of the Xbox 360 games that you've provided, and I'm sure that some of them will become Rock Band superstars by the time our deployment concludes.
What you do for servicemembers is nothing short of amazing, and as we continue to gain and maintain the trust of the Iraqi people, we know that Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon will be there every step of the way supporting us. Your generosity and commitment to our soldiers reflects the American spirit- full of patriotism, fellowship, and charity. While you support us, know that we will always support you.
Thank you, Colonel! We will continue to support you and your soldiers with great pride!
