IBU-22 Unit back in United States Adoopt-a-Soldier Platoon Visits Unit
IBU-22 has deployed back to its home base in Groton, CT, and Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon president Alan K. and his wife Mary-Edna had the privilege of visiting them on July 8th, 2008. It was great meeting many of the Navy veterans who had protected American interests in Kuwait and the Middle East. The visit even included a boat ride aboard one of the patrol boats typical of the craft that protected American ships such as the U.S.S. Cole in the Arabian Gulf. Special thanks to all the men and women of IBU-22 for their brave and honorable service to America. (See below for some pictures from the day.)

| Jan 26 08: AaSP supporter Joe Renta (middle) is a military sales manager for Unilever's Foodsolutions division in the U.S. On his trip to the Middle East, Joe was able to visit Camp Patriot and our IBU-22 U.S. Navy unit to say hello and drop off some goodies. One of our adoptees (CDR John D.) is 2nd from L. Security kept Joe off the base but he was able to at least get this photo op with some of our unit's leaders. Thank you Joe for taking your personal time to visit and ... Joe ... you lucky dog!!! (this is the first time any of AaSP's supporters have been able to visit our troops in the field!) |

AaSP Supporter Joe Renta Visits U.S. Navy Reserve Unit in Kuwait
Joe Renta has been one of AaSP's supporters for a while. Joe works in military sales for Unilever's Foodsolutions Division. On this trip to the Middle East, Joe got a chance to visit IBU-22 in Kuwait -- at least as far as the gate would allow anyway. This Navy Reserve unit is based in Groton, CT.
Said Joe, "This place is in the middle of nowhere! My driver Mohameed kept saying are you sure? He thought we were lost. No way. Chief Neales gave great directions. There are camels and tents all over, about as you would imagine. Then BOOM, up pop some nice resorts. You then head down a little road past the yard filled with Tanks, Trucks, and Humvees. It was funny. They came out of the gate in a Rodeo, hit a speed bump like a bunch of kids. Think they were excited and forgot it was there."
Thank you Joe for taking the time to go. Thanks for bringing goodies to our men. Thanks for caring. A lot of us wish we could have been there! You bring credit upon yourself, Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, Unilever and our countrymen!

IBU-22 (Inshore Boat Unit Two Two) is a Naval Reserve unit from Groton, CT. We are proud to support this important team and their mission to keep the waters around Kuwait safe for our American ships. They are there to prevent another tragedy like the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.
Because so many of our supporters are from Connecticut, IBU-22 is considered one of our "home units."
