Packing Ice Tea Mix 8-14-09
Thanks to the generosity of Unilever's Suffolk, VA, tea plant, Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon was able to pack 49 cartons for our troops in the Middle East. It gets very hot during the summer (as much as 125-130F in Kuwait) and the ice tea stix flavor the water bottles and provide extra electrolytes. The event on Friday, Aug 14, was attended by Allan V, Tom D, George Z, Dennis M, Brian K and Alan K. Additionally, two NJ ARNG soldiers from the Riverdale, NJ, Armory, volunteered to help AaSP pack the cartons.
Below see several videos taken at the packing event. Thanks to Lorrayne M. and SGT D. for engaging our troops and thanks to Ted N., Bob B., Mary F. and Chris J. for the incredibly generous donation for our military in the deserts and mountains of the Middle East.

Holiday Care Cartons and Stockings 2008
Our big packing party for Holidays 2008 was amazing! On Friday, Dec. 4, AaSP supporters were joined by two soldiers from the NJ ARNG and packed off over 70 care cartons full of goodies and presents for our adoptees and their units. Add to that a visit from the wife of one of our adoptees and a reporter from the NJN News crew and the event was one for the books!
For the third year in a row, one of our trustees and her family and friends went shopping for our adoptees. The gifts came from Cresskill, Tenafly, and neighboring towns in Bergen County, NJ. Thank you Lara and your crew! Add to these gifts, we had stockings from Ridgefield Boy Scouts, Emerson Girl Scouts, Cresskill, NJ, and Trumbull, CT, supporters. Goodies from the Best Buy event were uncovered and packed off. St. Ignatius Loyola Day Nursery sent cartons of food, personal care, books and even clothing items for needy Iraqi children. The Deepwater Federal Credit Union sent lots of goodies, including K-9 treats. The folks at Microsoft XBox sent games. EA sent games. It was incredible! For pictures of the event, see the slide show below.
