Note: 8 January 2012: Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon and the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders were in Kuwait from 15 Dec through 19 Dec and got to see the live trees delivered to our units! You can see the trees and the impact they had in some of the pix above!
Another great year with DHL Express and Dee's Nursery out on Long Island, NY. The fine folks from DHL (thanks Cathy O'Reilly, Michael Taylor, Cain Moody, Dominick Saldilli, Pete Johnson, Hector and all the great team) are again extending themselves to ship live Christmas trees to our Troops -- this year in AFG and KUW. Our units will be the benefactors of many of these trees. Thank you DHL and thanks Cathy for all this amazing work. We know how much effort goes into all this!!!!
AaSP President Alan Krutchkoff attended the event on 5 December at Dee's Nursery in Oceanside, NY, and at the DHL JFK Int'l Airport Gateway. It was fantastic! And in addition to the trees, DHL is also shipping a lot of items AaSP and the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders need for their Military Appreciation Tour - Kuwait 2011! T-shirts, posters, Xbox consoles, cookies, Tour Cards (the Cheerleaders will sign these and give them to the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen over there) and other goodies are being shipped over by DHL to ensure they arrive safely for our Tour. THANK YOU DHL!!!!
ALSO want to thank the great folks at Dee's Nursery, Jim Adelis, Ben Thompson from the NY State VFW (a great supporter of our troops and their families), the Port Authority of NY/NJ, the Nassau County Police and all the local police departments for getting helping get the trees to JFK in motorcade (very cool), all the Veterans and the organizations that help and the school children and Nassau County, NY, Girl Scouts who all make this event so special. Thank you one and all!

For the eighth year in a row, DHL Express has teamed up with Dee's Nursery and Adelis Int'l Security and the local VFW to ship live Christmas trees, lights and ornaments -- along with Menorahs -- to our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. It's a fantastic program and one which has benefitted Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon and our units serving in harm's way in those countries.

DHL Express Xmas Trees Shipment 2009
JFK Int'l Airport Gateway and Dees' Nursery, Oceanside, NY
December 7 and 8, 2009
JFK Int'l Airport -- Since 2004, DHL has been shipping Xmas Trees to our troops in the Middle East. What started with a customer at Dees' Nursery in Oceanside, NY, grew with Jim Adelis at Adelis Int'l Security (whose son was deployed to Iraq at the time) and the willingness, generosity, compassion and patriotism from DHL Express and its employees.
This is the fourth year that Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon has worked with DHL to put Xmas trees into their units in Iraq and Afghanistan. These trees bring holiday spirit and a taste of home to our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen in the war zone in the Middle East. They are a welcome sight indeed!
Thanks to the team at DHL, Dees' Nursery, Adelis Int'l Security, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Port Authority, State, County and local police and fire department units and all the civic groups who participate in this valient effort!
