DHL and Girl Scouts send a Million Cookies to the troops! from AASP1111 on Vimeo.

Operation Cookie 2011

The Nassau Country, NY, Girl Scouts and DHL Express have done it again! This year, another 45,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies were shipped to Afghanistan and Iraq to our brave warriors. Additionally, cookies were given to Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon to share with all its units.

Adopt-a-Soldier is grateful to DHL Express at JFK Int'l Airport in New York City for their steadfast support of our troops!  All the cookies were sold by the Nassau County Girl Scouts and Daisy troops. DHL Express generously provided all logistics to get the pallets of cookies to the Middle East. This is the 6th year that DHL Express has teamed up with the Nassau County Girl Scouts.

Thanks to Cain Moody, VP US Gateways; Steve Meadows, Director JFK Gatewauy; and Cathy O'Reilly, International Logistics Manager of DHL and
Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director, CEO; Donna Rivera-Downey, Marketing Director and Luci Duckson-Bramble, Fund Development Officer of the Nassau County, NY, Girl Scouts!

(See the slide show above for pictures from the troops and also send off event (allow slide show to play through several times for all pictures to load up properly.) Scroll down for info on previous years.

What cookies do for our troops (in their own words):

WOW!! That's a-lot of cookies. Thank you! I had to find a place to store the cookies, so the medical supply people were able to help me out. I have set-up a day and time to distribute the cookies out to wounded and the soldiers, airman, marines and sailors on the base. Besides passing cookies out here at Bagram, I am going to send some to the FOB's (Forward Operating Bases). These poor guys and gals out there are always last on the food chain. I have a contact that can take them out there by medivac (Helicopter) when they go out and pick-up patients. I will take some pictures of that and get them back to you as soon as I can. Please tell Nassau County Girl Scouts and DHL thank you. MSgt Rudy P., Craig JT Hosp., Bagram AB, AFG, 4-24-09

Wow, 450 boxes of cookies!!! Thank you for your commitment and dedication to supporting us over here! It will never go unnoticed, and is deeply appreciated by both patients and staff. Thank you for your generosity.
SSgt Amy K, Balad AFTH, Iraq, 4-18-09

We just received the 450 boxes (of Girl Scout cookies) and everyone is so excited to get some.  I sent out a message to MDG all to come and get em’ and the place has been a buzz since with excited MDG personnel.  I also took the time to mention in the message that it was the goodness and appreciation from your organization and DHL that made it possible.  Thanks so much, we are honored to know our service is so appreciated and will surely enjoy the your gift of goodness.  Maj. Keith W., Balad AFTH, Iraq, 4-17-09
