Operation Respite (27 November 2011 Update)

We are supporting the II MEF (FWD) in Afghanistan as well as other Marine units. We now have 18 Female Engagement Teams (FETs) as well as four Wounded Warrior Barracks (WWBs) to take care of, besides a whole host of new units! Thanks to an enormous donation for TRX and an allowance for us to buy Force Kits at close-out prices, we are already sending TRXs to them (20 sent out immediately and more to be shipped out). Special thanks to Alex R of TRX and the TRX Company!!!

We have an enormous job to do to support our Marines. Please let us know if you'd like to help!

We have an enormous job to do to support our Marines. Please let us know if you'd like to help!

For Wounded Warrior Barracks, we need oatmeal packs, trail mix, crackers and other healthy snacks. They have enough candy and junk food. They can also use t-shirts and sweat pants as the weather is getting colder and patients are arriving with just a space blanket from transport. More info to come on what the FETs and other Marines need. Please help us support our great Marines! They don't ask for anything. We just love to show them how America loves them!!!

April 2011 -- We've been taking care of the 8th Marines are in AFG. We sent the Regiment 30 TRXs -- 15 as soon as they arrived (courtesy of a pasta dinner fund raiser in Fair Lawn, NJ) and another 15, thanks to a great donation from the TRX folks!!! Thanks to TRX for the 40 TRXs they donated, awesome job!

"We received the TRX and fit deck shipment today.  You're too generous!  My SgtMaj and I plan to start getting them out to the different positions tomorrow.  The Marines will really enjoy them and they'll add to the ammo cans and sandbags they're using now.  Thanks again for everything you and your supporters are doing.  I can tell you for certain that the Marines and Sailors of 2/9 truly appreciate it."  Lt Col James F, CO, 3/7 Marines, 21 August 2010

TRX Force kits will be part of Operation Respite. They can be used in varied locations, especially where warriors don't have access to gyms and regular facilities.

Operation Respite has a mission -- to support our Marines! We have been supporting Regimental Combat Team in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. We added the 2/9, 1/8 and 3/5 Marines in AFG as well.

Our Marines are fighting hard to rid the region of the Taliban and establish "normal" living conditions for the people of Afghanistan. That means security for all and a place where the Afghan people can live in peace, children can go to school without fear and their world can return to "normal."

50 TRXs were ordered after we received permission from RCT-2 to ship TRX Force Kits to them for distribution! We would like to publicly acknowledge the help of TRX for pricing, added bonuses and free shipping to the Marines. We ordered another 15 for the 2/9 Marines!  Over 100 TRX kits have been shipped to date.

On December 16, 2010, Fair Lawn (NJ) Mayor Joe Tedeschi and American Legion Commander Albee Palmieri held a pasta dinner at the American Legion post in Fair Lawn for AaSP and the 8th Marines. Mayor Tedeschi had been in the 1/8 Marines and wanted to help out with our Operation. We raised over $2,200 for our Marines and TRXs were purchased and shipped to RCT-8 in AFG.

Here are some of the supporters who have pitched in so far with financial donations: Fair Lawn, NJ, Mayor Joe Tedeschi and Commander Albee Palmieri; American Legion Auxiliary #238 of Woodland Park, NJ; Dick and Susan B, Rose and Peter B, Vaughn and Nancy B, Bryan Cave LLP, Santa Monica, CA; Frank and Barbara C (and Sandra C); John and Joan C, Jenny C-V, Nancy D, Bob and Kathleen G, Paul G , Robert G, Nina H, Helen K, Craig McC, Marty M, Art and Sally O', Parallel Communications; William C and Rocks, Reefs and Shoals; Joe R, Jeanne S, Konrad and Janet S, Dick and Nancy S, Seagate Games, Leo S, Lisa T, Steve U and Lilyam W.  If you would like to contribute a TRX Force Kit, or kettle balls, resistance bands or other agile exercise equip, entertainment amenities such as portable DVD players or camcorders or know another organization who'd like to help or if you'd like to make a financial donation, contact our project manager, Kim.

PLEASE HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE with our brave warriors!
