The X Bowl Afghanistan 2010, Bagram Air Field, AFG
Page last update: 12 November 2010
We enabled an Event for our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen to forget about war for a few hours. We brought some good old Americana their way -- the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders and EA Sports' Madden Football 11 Xbox 360. Four different sites had elimination tournaments and the finals were held at Bagram AF's Clamshell on 31 October, 2010. It was awesome! And after the tournament, the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders put on a fantastic dance show that rocked the house and brought smiles to all the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen in attendance!
The X Bowl was more than the Madden Football event, however. The Cheerleaders travelled throughout several FOBs on Afghanistan to cheer on and entertain the troops with a caberet type show. The smiles they brought to the faces of our brave warriors away from home was a wonderful sight!

This from an update by MG John F. Campbell, CG CJTF-101, Bagram AF, AFG, 7 November 2010:
"We also had a visit from the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders. They travelled throughout RC-East, and put on a couple of shows to entertain our Service Members and Civilians. During their visit, they managed to see Soldiers from TF Bastogne (1BCT, 101), TF Rakkasan (3BCT, 101), TF Currahee (4BCT, 101) TF Hammer (176 Engineer Brigade), TF Wolverines (86th IBCT), TF Falcon (3rd CAB), and the CJTF-101 Headquarters. They also spent a lot of long hours after the shows to sign pictures and talk with Soldiers. I would like to offer a special thank you to these great ladies and their Cheer Dad, Mr. Alan Krutchkoff, for making this visit
such a memorable one for our Service Members and Civilians."
Thanks General for the awesome hospitality during our visit!

For the last two years, Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon has teamed up with Microsoft Xbox and other corporate sponsors and benefactors to bring video game excitement to Iraq. The I-Roq Rock Band Tournament has been held in Baghdad and at (then named) Camp Anaconda. Now it's time for an event in Afghanistan and something new!
This year, AaSP is teaming up to bring Madden Football madness to AFG! Microsoft Xbox, EA Sports, the Unilever Military Sales team with its AXE brand, Atlas Air World Wide (the world's largest Boeing 747 freight carrier), the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders (the First Ladies of Football), the USO, Armed Forces Entertainment and the MWR are working together to plan an exciting event for our warriors in Afghanistan. The NY Jets, Houston Texans, CBS Sports, EA's new Medal of Honor game, IZOD IndyCar Series, Hackensack Pastry Shop and Fitness Anywhere (TRX Force Kits) also are contributing goodies for the event. Special thanks to DHL Express for shipping a skid of our goodies to the event to ensure they will be there in time as we ran out of the time runway to get stuff to AFG. Thanks DHL!
