The six 4'x12' mats we sent the 28th CSH arrived safe and sound! (thanks AGM Mats) Now soldiers and staff at the Ibn Sina hospital can work out safely and comfortably. The mats will be a nice legacy for Ibn Sina going forward after the 28th is deployed back home. (picture depicts room with only 4 of the 6 mats installed. Two mats arrived later)
Before the mats arrived: Soldiers of 28th CSH worked out in the new exercise/training room with rubberized floor.
Exercise Room at 28th CSH
Soldiers from the 28th Combat Support Hospital had been using a gym down the street. Early this year, it was destroyed in a rocket attack and now several charity groups chipped in to help the soldiers of the 28th CSH get back a place to train. The exercise and training room they are outfitting is on their compound. Several groups in the U.S., including AaSP and a group called USA Home Team contributed to this effort. AaSP purchased a total of six 4'x12' mats, all of which are now in place. A heavy bag and speed bag (from USA Home Team) are also set up in the room where soldiers are signing up for boxing and jiu jitzu lessons (click here for flyer). AaSP located a company that could ship the mats at a reasonable cost through the APO system. Thanks Lara for the hard work identifying the vendor. And thanks Colleen for your team's great efforts.
