PIX Brings a NYC Xmas to Iraq
Marvin Scott and Jill Nicolini visit AaSP Unit! 209th ASB XO Hosts Channel 11 crew
December 2009 - A New York City television crew from PIX11 brought Nathan's hot dogs, NY Cheesecake and plenty of gifts to New York City area soldiers at COB Speicher in Tikrit, Iraq. At Speicher, they were hosted by the 209th ASB (an AaSP adoptee unit). The crew performed two live broadcasts a day to the NYC Metro area. Special thanks to Marvin Scott, Jill Nicolini and Dave Kimmel (camera, producer) and MAJ John M from the 209th for his extraordinary efforts to get everything lined up.
All the segments can be viewed on wpix.com (click link to go to page. Scroll down and all the clips are at the bottom of the page). On Christmas Day, Alan and Mary-Edna Krutchkoff from AaSP went to the PIX studio in NYC and described to reporter Craig Treadway how AaSP started and then were treated to a live connection with MAJ M. in Tikrit, where he opened his Christmas presents from the organization (Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon Part 2).
