Red Hat Ladies Adopt Female Soldiers: (update 3-30-07)
Carmen and her Red Hat Ladies are awesome! On Thursday, March 15th, Carmen dropped off more than 20 good-sized, heavy packages at the Unilever Englewood Cliffs, NJ, loading dock. These were the results of the Red Hat Ladies' great event on Saturday, March 10th. Ten cartons were shipped out same day to the Ladies' adopted units -- the 28th CSH, the 209th ASB and the 324th ITSB. More cartons were shipped out in another two days. And the last of the cartons were shipped on Monday, March 26th. An additional unit, a satellite hospital of the 28th CSH, located in Mosul, Iraq, will receive two cartons that were shipped to them.
The Saturday event at the La Botte Restaurant at 2071 Hyland Blvd, Staten Island, NY, was a HUGE success. What else can we say to the Red Hat Ladies other than, "bless you for your support of our troops!" (flyer on the event).
Carmen's own words about their event: "The love for the soldiers was evident everywhere. La Botte Restaurant gave us a price of $20 per person for a full 4 course lunch, tax and tip (and a glass of wine, too). We had about 30 red hatters there and people coming in and out with the items."
