Super Bowl XLIII Party Baghdad, Iraq
This year, AaSP sent the NFL souvenirs to the 4th Infantry Division in Baghdad. The 4ID has been defending Baghdad for 14 months now and this was a great way to thank these brave warriors and provide some fun for their Super Bowl party.
This is what MG Jeffery W. Hammond, Commanding General, 4ID, had to say:
"Thanks a bunch ... Soldiers had a great time... your items were a big hit"
This is the fourth year in a row that Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon is helping the troops enjoy their NFL "Big Game." Thanks to the generosity of many NFL teams, these souvenirs made their party more special. They deserve it!!! Thanks 4ID!! (and thanks Col. R. for the connection)

4th Infantry Division is fourth oldest in the Army
|
| In December 2008, the 4th Infantry Division celebrated its 91st birthday. It is a storied, well-decorated unit, the fourth oldest in the Army. CLICK HERE for the press release and more info on the 4ID. Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon is honored and privileged to help the 4ID celebrate their birthday by sending NFL souvenirs for their Super Bowl party!

Insignia: The four leaves allude to the numerical designation of the Division while the word "IVY" as pronounced, suggests the characters used in the formation of the Roman numeral "IV." Ivy leaves are also symbolic of fidelity and tenacity.

This year, souvenirs for the party include terrible towels, DVDs and other goodies from the Pittsburgh Steelers and stickers and pictures from the Arizona Cardinals. Also, a commemorative football from the SF 49ers and two from the GB Packers, team pictures from the Bills, a Dallas Cowboy pennant signed by Jerry Jones and Wade Philips, calendars from the Chargers, pins from the Rams, hats and lanyards from the Bears and autographed pictures from the Patriots Cheerleaders and Jaguars Cheerleaders (they also sent t-shirts).
We also received a "boatload" of goodies from the Washington Redskins and the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders. Included were two Redskins used footballs, autographed calendars and pictures from the cheerleaders, t-shirts, playing cards and a very cool DVD movie. Special shout out to Melanie who has been a great friend of AaSP and our troops and also to Amy who has come through for the second year in a row for our brave warriors! Thank you ladies!! Thanks to all the NFL teams that participated this year and Rob for getting all the goodies for our troops. And by the way, The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks have been there from the beginning on these projects and we are very grateful to Michelle R. and Connie C. for their steadfast support!
Good luck to both teams and we wish the brave men and women of the 4ID a great party!
HOOAH!
