Atlas Air Worldwide continues its tradition of charity to the Troops through its Golf Outing each year.
Atlas Air Worldwide is a great friend of our Troops. They are always willing to help fund our projects, mostly through their annual Charity Outing and Dinner. 2012 is no exception and on Thursday, 13 September, they held their fantastic function at the Rockrimmon CC in Stamford, CT. We'll have more info and pics as we get them from Atlas Air but in the meantime, please see several pics below.
Guest speaker at the dinner was USMC Col. JJ Dill, who is the Commander of the Marines Recruiting unit in the Northeast and once a Battalion CO of the 1/7 Marines. It was during this time that he and AaSP began their association and AaSP was honored and privileged to send goodies to his Marines in Iraq.
More to come...
AaSP president Alan K presents Atlas Air World Wide COO John D with a special flag sent by Charlie Co, 1/3 ARB in AFG for the outstanding support of our troops by Atlas Air. The presentation was made on 16 September, 2010, at Atlas Air's charity outing. The event continues to raise substantial monies for our troops. This year, the outing raised money for AaSP's Madden Football Event in AFG. Thanks Bill, John and Atlas Air!!
John Dietrich, Atlas Air COO, receives American flag flown over Balad Theater Hospital in Iraq from Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon's president Alan Krutchkoff. The flag was a gift from the Balad Air Force Theater Hospital for the generosity Atlas Air demonstrated during AaSP's Operation XBox, which helped provide XBoxes for the hospital. The flag was presented at Atlas Air's charity event on October 16, 2008.
Every year Atlas Air Worldwide finds a way to do even more for our Troops and again, in 2011, they held their Charity Golf Outing for their employees, partners, suppliers and vendors and Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon was honored to attend its dinner. We brought along LTC John Tumino, who provided an energizing speech to the audience who went into their wallets to buy items auctioned off by Atlas Air and their friends. The result is another smash year for our Troops! Atlas Air is supporting our Kuwait Holiday Tour 2011 with a major sponsorship to help defray expenses. Thanks Bill, John, Gary and the entire Atlas Air team!!! You guys are great!!! (See above for pictures from their golf tournament.)
Atlas Air has been supporting Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon's programs to improve the morale of our troops for more than three years. Each of those years, Atlas Air has held a charity golf outing to raise money for AaSP. This year was no different and on 17 September, 2010, it held another successful outing and Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon will be the beneficiary of this generosity. The monies raised will go towards the Madden Football event for our troops in AFG.
In 2009, Atlas Air raised a substantial amount of money for AaSP's Operation Atlas, which supported six different aviation related units in AFG, Iraq and Kuwait. Units supported included: an Apache helicopter company in southern Afghanistan; a fighter squadron on the USS Nimitz and USS Eisenhower; an aviation support company in Iraq and an aviation unit in Kuwait.
In 2008, the company held a charity golf outing to support three different charities, one of which was AaSP's Operation X-Box 360 Project. The charity outing was a huge success and Atlas Air donated $10,000 to enable AaSP to overreach its goal and ship more than 80 XBoxes to its adoptees and units.
In 2008, Atlas Air named Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon as the charity for its seventh annual charity event held on Thursday, October 16, 2008. Suppliers, customers and employees donated generously to Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon. Nearly $20,000 has been raised to fund the purchase of camcorders for AaSP's Operation Home Front, supporting local NYC Metro area soldiers, including the NJ and CT Army National Guard. Special thanks to The Boeing Company, Preferred Composite Services, Hotel Connections, Genesis Aviation, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Pillsbury Law, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Global Crew Logistics, IBM, Mach 2, GE Aviation, High Standard Aviation, CIGNA and their leadership for their very generous donations. Special thanks to John D., Jim W. and all the folks involved with this event!
