Team Leader: Phyllis Gruberman
On Thursday, December 6, 2007, the Lodi Senior Citizens Club of Lodi, NJ, presented a car load of goodies to Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon. AaSP VP Holmes Brady picked up the colorful, seasonally wrapped goodies for our troops. These wonderful donations will be mailed this week to Iraq. Special thanks to Phyllis and the entire Lodi Seniors crew that made this possible. Thank you so much!
On Tuesday, July 24, 2007, the Lodi Senior Citizens Club of Lodi, NJ, presented to the Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon bags and bags of goodies for the 31st Combat Support Hospital in Iraq. The 31st CSH supports the Theater Internment Facility (TIF) in Baghdad. It's tough duty and the seniors in Lodi wanted to do something special to improve their morale.
The packages arrived and are already making the nurses, medical staff and MPs very happy. MAJ Karen H., our adoptee, said after receiving the second set of 9 cartons: "Hi, I have 9 boxes here. Most of the hygiene items travelled well, a few shampoo bottles opened up here and there, thank you so much for having the volunteers put them into zip lock bags! The sheet sets were incredibly generous, wow. I'm sure some soldiers will love them." Hats off to Phyllis and the Seniors with our deep gratitude.
The Lodi seniors came to AaSP through the connection of our Congressman, Steve Rothman (NJ- 9th Dist.). Special thanks to Congressman Rothman's office for their continued support. Michele DiIorgi, Director of Constituent Services for the Congressman, attended the presentation in his behalf. And thank you Phyllis, Norma and team for a great job of promoting the project and organizing all the donations, which also included several hundred dollars.
