Presentation of monies raised on "Fun Day" were made on Friday, January 11, 2008, at Paragon's Montvale headquarters. Among those attending were 1SG Harry Streeets of the NJ Army Natl Guard. An X-Box will be sent to the NJ Army Natl Guard unit currently serving in Afghanistan.
Paragon "Fun Day" for Freedom - Nov. 17, 2007

The generous folks at Paragon Federal Credit Union are always thinking of ways to help our troops. The team at their Montvale, NJ, headquarters created "Fun Day" on Friday, Nov. 17, 2007, to raise money to buy an X-Box for the troops. Games included “Putting for Patriots” (10 chances to put for a hole in one. One employee had 7 out of 10);  “Nets for Vets” (10 shots at an indoor basketball hoop. Photo in collage above shows one employee doing a backwards shot, the other shows a blind fold shot (using USA red, white and blue fabric as the blind fold); "Pong for Peace” involved using a Ping Pong table and having players bounce 10 ping pong balls into different color cups. Depending on which color cup the ball landed in determined the points they earned for this event); and a “Troop Toss” was a modified ring toss game (not pictured above). One employee did get the disc onto the cone!

Special thanks to all the employees of Paragon FCU who generously give of their time and money to help our troops!

On Thursday, October 4, 2007, a special event was held at Paragon's Montvale, NJ, headquarters where a table-full of goodies collected at their nine branches was presented to AaSP for its adopted K-9 kennel in Iraq. Attending were also officers and dogs from the Passaic County, NJ, Sheriff Department's K-9 unit. Pictured in front are: Officer Chris Petrullo and his dog Ace, Officer Anthony Potenzone and Chief and Officer Juan Whilfford and Brix.

The nice folks at Paragon Federal Credit Union began supporting Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon's programs this year to boost the morale of our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the Spring, they held several fun and exciting events to benefit two NJ National Guard units serving in Iraq at Camp Anaconda.

Some of the neat goodies on their way to our brave K-9s.
This Fall, Paragon put bins back in its branches to collect goodies for America's K-9 heroes and their handlers. Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon is supporting the K-9 heroes at Camp Anaconda and Paragon and its members are helping. On Thursday, October 4, 2007, Paragon presented all the donated items to Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon at Paragon's Montvale, NJ, headquarters.

Attending the October 4 event were officers and dogs from Passaic County, NJ, Sheriff Department's K-9 unit. The officers spoke about the dedication, training and duties of K-9 officers and their dogs. Then they took their dogs outside and provided an exciting demonstration of explosives and drug sniffing and perpetrator nabbing. The dogs were a big hit with the credit union employees and members.

Paragon Member Collects More Goodies for Troops

Andrew Berninger (L), 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher at the Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Fair Lawn, NJ, created a project for his students. Donated items were presented on Monday, October 8, 2007, to Mary-Edna Krutchkoff (R) of AaSP. Some of the donated items appear in the picture.
Fair Lawn, NJ, School Teacher Collects Goodies for our Troops

Andrew Berninger thought it would be a good idea for his students to learn about civic responsibilities so he created a project to collect products for our troops. The students were asked to bring
in goodies for the K-9 heroes and our soldiers and in return they would receive extra credits. The donated items were presented on Monday, October 8, 2007, to Mary-Edna Krutchkoff of AaSP. Mary-Edna gave a short presentation on the origins of AaSP and showed a DVD featuring Congressman Steven Rothman (NJ-9th Dist.), speaking about Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on Sept. 19, 2007; an American flag flown in Iraq; and presented the students with a certificate of appreciation. Six cartons of items have already been shipped to soldiers fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan and a Navy unit patrolling the waters of Kuwait. The K-9 items went to the kennel at Camp Anaconda.

Earlier this year. Paragon had several fund raisers to collect goodies for the troops. One fund raiser had jars of jelly beans in each of their nine branches and customers (members) had the opportunity to guess the number of beans in each of the jars. All donations went toward the purchase of an InFocus projector and other important supplies for one of the NJ Guard units.

Another fund raiser was "Hoops for Troops" and this was held by employees at their Montvale, NJ, branch. Paragon employees shot baskets to also raise money for the projector.

The team put bins in each of the branches and credit union members dropped off goodies as part of a special Spring shipment to the NJ Guard. The packages were shipped in late March.

Thanks to the Paragon FCU crew for pitching in to help our troops. Way to go!
