Wounded in AFG; Stepped on a mine saving an AFG Soldier; Awarded the Silver Star
Selected by USO as Soldier of the Year 2011!

We met CPL David Bixler (then SPC) through an Update from MG John F. Campbell, CG at the time of CJTF-101 in AFG. We had met MG Campbell when touring with the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders. MG Campbell had posted in one of his updates about a Soldier whom he awarded a Silver Star, who had been severely wounded in AFG pinned down during a firefight.
We went to Walter Reed AMC to meet David and brought him some gifts and a visit with the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders. David is a professed "nerd" and loves computers and gadgets. One of his favorite web sites is ThinkGeek.com. His favorite teams are - Baseball, Brewers; Football, Titans; Hockey, Black Hawks.
David is now an outpatient at the National Medical Center. We're so happy for his continuing recuperation! Check out this link on something really nice he said about Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon!
If you'd like to help brighten his day please let us know.
